Charlie Finlay, CFRE

Charlie Finlay, Founder and Principal Consultant, has extensive experience with nonprofit fundraising, administration and governance, and is a sought-after Executive Coach and Interim Nonprofit Leader. His fundraising expertise includes: strategic planning; donor communications and engagement; stewardship and cultivation; systems redesign; revenue budgeting; corporate and foundation relations; and capacity building. He has become the “go-to guy” for transitional Interim Development Leadership, particularly within LGBT, HIV, youth development, and educational nonprofit sectors. He also provides an executive recruitment component to find qualified, permanent development leadership candidates.

His philanthropy expertise includes: legacy planning; foundation mission formulation; requests for proposals (RFP) creation; grantmaking guidelines; and proposal review criteria. He has a deep understanding of the grantee selection process, as well as grantee performance assessment methods, and aggregate impact evaluation.

A Board Source-Certified Board Governance Educator, he has attained proficiency on a vast range of nonprofit governance issues, including: board recruitment, engagement, and assessment. He has served on numerous Boards, Committees, and Advisory Groups, and helped launch Out In Front: New York, an LGBTQ Leadership Development Program for the Stonewall Community Foundation, where he also served as a board member, board officer, and grant advisory selection committee chair.

As an educator, Charlie has designed and facilitated numerous fundraising seminars, forums and board and staff retreats. He has been a featured panelist for conferences, and various symposia on topics related to Board Leadership and Diversity, Executive Interim Leadership, Executive Coaching, Board Relations, Roles and Responsibiltiies, and Funder/Grantee Relations.

Charlie holds a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch’s School of Public Affairs’ Executive MPA Program, and was recently certified in Executive Coaching Strategy by completing Harvard University’s first Professional Development Program in Executive Leadership Coaching. A member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Charlie is a highly sought-after strategist, educator, thought-leader, mentor and coach. Mary Hastings

Hastings is a graduate of the Juilliard School and an accomplished musician and educator. Michael Corrente

Michael Corrente, Consultant Strategist, is an accomplished fundraiser and nonprofit leader with more than 15 years of experience in the field. His thoughtful and confident strategic leadership has helped a wide array of organizations optimize their fundraising. He is a strategic communicator and an extremely resourceful prospect researcher. He is proficient with solicitation strategies, and proposal and program development, having launched and fully funded numerous new programs and initiatives. He is a highly sought-after adviser, and a persuasive and eloquent communicator. Michael’s core expertise lies in institutional fundraising, prospect research methods, special event planning, and donor cultivation. He has held major leadership roles in a variety of fields, including HIV/AIDS (Community Research Initiative of New England, Gay Men’s Health Crisis), women’s equality and justice (Ms. Foundation for Women), and higher education (New York University, City University of New York). He has a keen understanding of corporate and foundation engagement, and is a talented and patient teacher. Michael serves on several boards and advisory committees, and holds a Communications BFA and an MPA degree from Baruch College of the City University of New York.
